83Why Muslims don't eat pork?
WHY PORK IS BANNED IN ISLAM?
This is just a brief survey dealing mainly with the
reasons why Islam forbid pork; and the deep philosophy behind it, in a
religious and somehow a scientific style. I hope it will be useful and
interesting, especially in these days which witness the harsh and quick
widespread of swine flu
(H1N1).
Question.
What is the teaching of Islam about pork?
Answer: Pork
is absolutely unhealthy, its flesh is also strictly prohibited for consumption.
Allah said in different places of the Holy Qour'ân "You are not the beast dead, blood, flesh of swine
..." (Surah 5, v. 4)
Q. -
As a Christian, I have no trouble eating pork. I often wonder why my Muslim brothers do not have been
allowed to taste the delicious food, as we Christians do.
A. - This question is somewhat surprising because, according to the Scriptures,
even Christians are not allowed to eat pork!
Q. How
can you say that?
A. - Well look what the Bible says about pork, "You shall not eat of their
flesh, and you do not touch their dead bodies; you look unclean."
(Leviticus ir, 7-8). The same command is echoed by Deuteronomy (XIV, 8). Reverend WK Lowther Clarke said in
his "Concise Commentary of the Bible" ( "Concise Bible
Commentary" fub. SPCK, 1952), commenting on these passages: "The laws
were inculcated and obeyed because they embodied the divine will" (p.
871). Dr. EA Widmer cites in his article Pork, Man and Disease,
"which follows:" The pig, although one of
the most common foods, is one of the most damaging. God had forbidden to the
Hebrews to eat pork, not just to assert its authority, but because it was not a
healthy food for humans. "

Well! these revelations are very interesting. Can you please give these issues
more references to Christian scriptures?
A. - Yes, you can see the commentary on the word "pig" in "The
Westminster Dictionary of the Bible" and is very clear. Here is an excerpt
"The pig was an unclean animal officially
... It is dirty, it does not refuse to eat offal and carrion, and consumption
of meat in some hot countries is supposed to cause skin diseases. The Arabs did
not practice his farm and was considered unclean by the Phoenicians, Ethiopians
and Egyptians ... For Jews, the pork was abominable, the pig was the emblem of
the dirt and rudeness. However, the pig was introduced in the idolatrous feasts of degenerate Jews (Isaiah 65,
4-66, 17). During the reign of Antiochus Epiphanius, a Jew in order to offer or taste of the pork
was a method used to determine its fidelity to the religion of their fathers or
to determine whether it was prepared to accept the worship introduced by its
conquerors. But many Jews affected manners and Jean Greek Hyrcan found wise to
publish an edict that no guard pig. "At the time of Christ, a large herd
of pigs was in the Decapolis (Mark V ,11-1 3), a region colonized by the Greeks
where the pork was highly esteemed as food. There is no reason to suppose that
Jews owned the pigs or are those nouns that the prodigal son in a distant
country (Luke 15, 15) "(p. 584-585). Similar presentations can be found in
almost all Bible dictionaries .
WHY THE PORK IS FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM?
In fact, not only the Koran prohibits the consumption of pork but the Bible
also prohibited. In Leviticus, chapter 11, verse 7-8, ..... it says:
"You do not eat pork, ... You shall not eat of their flesh, and you do not
touch their dead bodies: you look unclean."
Furthermore, did you know that pigs can not be slaughtered simply because he
has no neck ?..... This is a physical characteristic natural pork, have no
neck.
Muslims say that if God had wanted you to eat pork, he would have given a neck
that can kill.
The consumption of
pork is bad for health, whatever the product: pork chops, ham, bacon, etc..
Uric acid is a substance harmful to the human body.
Well it is important to note that the body of the pig does not get rid of that
2% of uric acid, the remaining 98% forming the body.
This explains the high percentage of rheumatic found in those who consume pork.

Beautifully Presented Mehdizemzem. Bravo. But you forgot to mention the other two degrading factor about pork is that " Eating pork meat lead's to Ringworms and another thing is the Dominant male of the herd shares his partner with friends" like Wife Swapping !!

but u forgot to mention what they eat and that Pig meat is infected with parasites and tape worms. They devour their own piglets and eat their own sick. The dirtiest of all animals.

I heard Allah's Apostle, in the year of the Conquest of Mecca, saying, "Allah and His Apostle made illegal the trade of alcohol, dead animals, pigs and idols." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What about the fat of dead animals, for it was used for greasing the boats and the hides; and people use it for lights?" He said, "No, it is illegal." Allah's Apostle further said, "May Allah curse the Jews, for Allah made the fat (of animals) illegal for them, yet they melted the fat and sold it and ate its price."

Thank you for putting this together. There are also other issues with pigs that make them extremely unhealthy to eat. A pig's digestive system does not allow it to filter out toxins. For example: A cow has 4 stomachs and takes 8-9 hours to digest its food allowing toxins to be filtered. A pig only has 1 stomach and takes only 4 hours to digest its food meaning not all of the toxins will be filtered. A cow will not eat food if it is dirty yet a pig will eat feces and even other dead pigs. The types of toxins that a pig will eat are disgusting and it isn't filtered out of their system leading pork to have up to 30 times more toxins than other meats.
I find it amazing that 1400 years ago no one would have been able to understand this, but God did. God knows best.
(By the way, there is no need to quote the Bible. Most Muslims say the Bible is corrupt. If it is corrupt then it should not be quoted as a source. The Qur’an and the science that supports the Qur’an is all we need.)

Interesting post. I was reading up more on uric acid, and found that chicken breast and salmon fillets can have higher levels of uric acid than pork fillet.
I guess that could be because chicken peck rubbish from the floor, and farmed salmon are (allegedly) fed on algae fed with chicken faeces.
But does this mean that Muslims need to watch their chicken and salmon consumption too?
Pork is only bad for your health if you are stuck in the 19th century, when it was legal to feed pigs raw meat.
Either that or you have not been educated to cook properly.
Pork is a valuable source of protein, rich in nutrients and low is calories
Pigs are lazy, dirty and disgusting animal who eats all day. That's why Muslims, Jews and some Christians don't eat pork. There is nothing good about eating pork meat,other than maybe source of protein -which u could get it from many different ways.
If the major religions prohibits eating pork, then there must be a VALID reason not to consume it. This animal uses it's own feces as food. And some people are defensive when they talk about pigs......................If I were you, I would NOT eat anything related to pork.

This was a new thing I heard. I had long time back asked one Maulvi (Priest) that why Muslims forbid pigs. He told me that when Paigambar (Prophet) was on a long journey, a herd of forest pigs had saved him. Hence, he quoted to forbid pigs and consider them as haraam (illegal). Well, that means the maulvi misguided me.
Salaams, I am a revert, I don't eat pig and yes Christians are not supposed to eat pork either and also christian ladies are also supposed to cover their heads aswell. Very interesting hub.
